Surely last season demonstrated that no club is guaranteed top six, as for a super league so us small clubs can play a amongst ourselves and win a trophy shows how the big club fans don’t understand us little clubs. In a league where anyone can beat anyone the sheer joy of taking points off the big guys and deciding the league is our joy. Take the season before last the four points Fulham gained against Arsenal insured that Arsenal didn’t win the premiership meaning we could continually remind our Arsenal supporting friends of this fact. Which leads me to comment on why a Super League is a non starter as fans our biggest joy is to rub our rivals nose in it, are you really going to be WhatsApping your Continental mates after a win in the super league?
Financial fair play has to continue we all remember what happened to Leeds and the big clubs who think that their rich owners are always going to be rich history tells a different story. Although I 💯 agree that it needs reforming as Man City and Chelsea have made a mockery of it. Man United have shown the way sacking the highly paid catering staff from the canteen allows you to pay out £250 million on new players.
As for FIFA sooner or later the players will have enough of having they’re summer holidays cut short and will simply strike or like the club world championship and the meaningless international football, fans like myself simply don’t bother watching.
Thanks dan interesting comment. No one seems to like my new league idea.
But having a simple maximum transfer cap and salary cap seems a good idea to me. Who cares if a new club gets bought up by some sugar daddy and starts spending loads. If all clubs have same cap then the more the merrier. Limiting spend based on your revenues is just a crude attempt by the big clubs to dominate football for eternity.
I’m not a smaller club fan like you so I don’t know for sure but I think I’d prefer being in a league I might win rather than just living for the occasional high of denying a big 6 team winning something. Even if it is Arsenal!
