Great piece! Am telling myself it’s a huge mistake to stay up…v likely to end in tears, as we all know. Having watched England win in 66 on a tiny black and white tv I now realise how lucky I was and am highly unlikely to see us win it again. But despite all that I bet I will stay up - c’mon England!
Totally agree ken. I envy you for at least seeing the first victory - I wasn’t into football at that stage, only four days old. I think many of us have the same complicated relationship with England, like the spouse of an unfaithful husband. We’ve been let down so many times but still love him and believe he can change. This time it might be different.
